January 13, 2018 Joe Brady

16th ANNUAL Martin Luther King Marade Drumming
with Harmony with a Beat! Community Drummers

Monday, January 15, 2018
10:00am – 11:15am
Corner of E. Colfax & East High Esplanade/Columbine St. in Denver
NOTE – New Corner  WEAR ORANGE (#OrangeUGladThat)

The Marade theme this year: “Sacrifice for Justice”
“The ultimate measure of a man is not where he stands in moments of comfort and convenience, but where he stands at times of challenge and controversy.”  ~ Dr. Martin Luther King. Jr.

Come celebrate the joy of Dr. Martin Luther King’s message as we join with the Maraders… Chops, Gregg, Joe and Jacqui lead the fun! Bring your drum, percussion, chair – but mostly yourself. We will begin IMMEDIATELY following the Laying of the Wreath at City Park.

PLEASE circulate widely! For the last 16 Marades, I have been telling campaigns and organizations to decide on an issue they want folks to pay attention to… Overt campaigning is not cool, but celebrating what you stand for is. This year, we are asking folks to wear orange – #OrangeUGladThat2018 Is so people are demonstrating through celebrating. This is a different time with people deriving energy from all the upsettedness and LOVING to see how angry and helpless we feel. SO – wear orange and carry your sign and then “Black Lives Matter” becomes “Orange you glad that black lives matter?” In other words, we are making progress and that public awareness and sentiment always precedes policy change and implementation.✊✊✌️✌️ See ya at the Marade!
